fj6-cover-v1-redhanded-studiosUnderstand that Red Handed Studios publishes a very small number of comics. As such, we’re not looking to take on every book that comes down the mountain, nor are we looking to expand our production beyond where we are right now. We ARE looking for talented creators who can meet deadlines and would like the chance to play in our sandbox with our characters. Not to say we wouldn’t fall right in love with your book and rush it to press…but it’s not something you should hang your hopes on.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT unsolicited writing (that is plots, scripts, whatever) samples! This means if you’re a writer and you want to take a shot at writing for Red Handed Studios, you need more information. Provided we’re looking for a writer at the time, we’ll send you a character bible, maybe even a rough plot, and you can go from there. What we don’t want to see is your characters in any form. Don’t send us original character descriptions, stories, or scripts. In the event you do so, they will be deleted. Red Handed Studios is NOT looking for writers at the present time. But don’t be discouraged and keep checking because we will from time to time put out the call.

WE DO ACCEPT inking, pencilling, lettering, or coloring samples. Doesn’t everyone? We love getting great art as much as the next guy. You can use whatever established character you want but Red Handed characters are always preferred. And pin up style art is great. We love it. But we can’t tell your storytelling ability if that’s all you send. So send in 4-7 sequential pages to help us out. If you’re an inker, make sure we know that and send in the pencils you inked as well for comparison.

If you do get work from Red Handed Studios it’s likely to be work for hire. So familiarize yourself with that aspect of the business so you understand what’s involved.

We only accept submissions via email. Email your submissions to submissions@redhandedstudios.com. We would prefer you send hyperlinks to your submission rather than attaching files. Websites such as Deviant art, Photobucket, and Imageshack all allow you to host your art for free and are a must have resource for aspiring artists. If you have to attach files for some reason, jpgs or pdfs are preferred. Please keep the total file size below 2 megs.

Also, keep in mind that we all have day jobs around here and it often takes a while to properly review a submission, especially if we’re taking a look at your stuff towards giving you some work. We will respond to each and every submission that comes in, it just might take some time to get those responses out. So hang in there and be patient.
